May 25, 2020
Dear Ranch Family,
We believe there are places on earth that have the power to transform us, and Lone Mountain Ranch is just that place. Ever since we homesteaded in 1915, our story has had one consistent thread: warm and welcoming hospitality to all, and we are proud to continue that tradition as our Governor has announced that the state of Montana will enter into Phase 2, allowing incoming visitors and opening the state for tourism. Our 2020 Summer Season for Ranch Guests, Horn & Cantle Dining, Outdoor Youth Adventure Program and Horse Program begins on June 7th!
Like all ranch guests, we know you may have a few questions, especially during this unprecedented time. We wanted you to know that our ranch ambassadors have spent this valued time away planning our re-opening protocols. We’ve refined the ranch experience to comply with health and safety regulations and in accordance with social distancing, including expanding Horn & Cantle’s space to include our grand lawn area.
Our new protocols additionally include touchless check-in/check-out, capacity reductions in all food & beverage areas, health measures during our activities and a 5 step cleaning process in our cabins and throughout the property
We are pleased to share further details on our service and health update with you here.

Housekeeping Protocol
We’re always keepin’ it clean, however for your ease of mind, we would like to share with you our fresh housekeeping protocols.
We have partnered with a renowned sanitizing expert, Ecolab on a EPA recommended cleaning process for not only our cabins, but for our property as a whole. This process includes using EPA-approved disinfectants on all hard surfaces and allowing the solution to sit for the required time. This protocol additionally includes our housekeepers wearing masks, and allotting for extra time during the housekeeping process and paying close attention to all touch points including light switches, fans, shade pulls, faucet handles and record players.
In order to minimize contact, daily housekeeping service and turndown will not be available during your stay. Additionally, all soft goods such as throw pillows and throw blankets will be removed from cabins. Please let us know if you would like any additional pillows and blankets delivered.
On request, we are pleased to provide new or additional linens, pillows, towels, and amenities. Please text us at the number provided at check-in and we will promptly have them delivered in a bag outside your door. We will also provide an additional bag for you to place your existing linens in and place back outside the door for removal.
Culinary and Beverage Offerings
It is with deep commitment to locally sourced, farm-to-table menus that we reflect our true Montana heritage. Whether you join us at Big Sky’s favorite Horn & Cantle Restaurant, The Saloon or one of our signature experiences, you’ll find a mix of Western favorites and modern originals!
We continue to be open for our guests and local community Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner with the following changes in place. According to Montana health & safety guidelines, we will be reducing our capacity in all food and beverage areas in addition to maintaining social distancing at all times. All dining will be served a la carte or family style. Our traditional Breakfast Buffet, and Fisherman’s Table Lunch Buffet, will no longer be offered.
We’ve expanded Horn & Cantle Restaurant and The Saloon to include a special Summertime dining under our big blue sky on our grand lawn area just in front of H&C. All tables will be spaced 6 feet apart, and will be sat one family per table. Bar stools in The Saloon have been removed and tables and lounge seating staggered within The Saloon space as well as in our Veranda. Chairs, tables, and accompaniments will be disinfected and sanitized in between each guest’s dining, and high touch common areas will be sanitized every hour. Disposable menus will also be used.
With adventure filled days ahead, we’ll make sure you are all fueled up with our famous Summer Cabin Coffee Delivery first thing in the morning. A Stanley thermos filled with piping hot, local Bozeman Ghost Town Coffee and all the fixin’s will be placed on your porch at the time specified with a knock on your door.
Everyone’s favorite Summertime welcome event, our weekly Ranch BBQ, will also be modified for your health and safety. Seating will be arranged according to social distancing in the ranch hall, seated with one family per table. Our delicious BBQ and all the sides will now be served family style at your table as well.
Adventure filled days are ahead…
Our ranch hands, wranglers, and expert guides live this landscape, and can’t wait to show you the real Montana. We’re here to share our knowledge of the outdoors so you can experience all this majestic land has to offer.
Rest assured that while adventuring with us, we’ll do all we can to keep you feeling comfortable and healthy. When possible, we will make every effort to keep activities to one group per outing, however this may not always be possible.
Guides and wranglers will have masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer available for guests at all times during activities. Feel free to bring or wear a face covering should you like to do so. For everyone’s comfort and safety please maintain proper social distancing with other groups and practice appropriate hygiene measures.
Ziplines, archery instruments, horseback riding gear, vehicles, and all activity touchpoints will be cleaned between each guest’s use.
Outdoor Adventure, Kiddo Style…
The Ranch is as much a playground for children as it is for adults. Our Outdoor Youth Adventure program builds confidence through outdoor recreation, develops an appreciation for nature, and, most of all, gives young people the space to roam, have fun, and connect with each other.
We will be following all state and local guidelines in sanitation, health and safety special directives for kids camps.
We’ll be sad to see you leave…
But, we know you’ll be back soon, you are family.
If you are departing in your personal vehicle, simply drop your cabin key in the “check-out” bucket outside at the Outdoor Shop. We will email your final folio to your email address on file.
If departing via LMR transport to Bozeman Airport, your Ranch Ambassador will meet you at The Outdoor Shop. Simply leave your packed luggage at your cabin and your driver will retrieve it from there.
We can’t wait for y’all to get here, take a walk back through time and get a sense of our roots and the Real Montana you’ll find.
